In collaboration with the City of Roanoke, PedalSafe ROA is hosting the 2025 Roanoke Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 21 at Market Square in downtown Roanoke. This year’s honorary ride chairman is Roanoke City Mayor Joe Cobb.

The Ride of Silence is an annual international bicycle ride to commemorate cyclists killed and support those injured while riding on public roads. The event raises awareness among motorists, the public, and decision makers about the dangers cyclists face on roads.

There are several volunteer opportunities- please consider helping us bring this important event to life!

All participants and volunteers must register and sign a waiver (included in online registration).

Event Details:
When: Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Where: Market Square (1 Market Sq, Roanoke, VA 24011)
6:30pm: Gather at Market Square in downtown Roanoke
6:45pm: Opening remarks from PedalSafe ROA and Roanoke City Mayor Joe Cobb.
7pm: Ride about 4 miles, beginning and ending at Market Square.
~8pm: After-ride social at Olde Salem Brewing Company in downtown Roanoke (315 Market St. SE)

The Ride of Silence will be held at a slow pace (12mph max.) in silence. It is free and open to all.

All participants must:
Bring a bike
Wear a helmet
Follow the rules of the road and ride safely

Participants are encouraged to:
Wear a black arm band to commemorate a cyclist who has been killed or a red armband to support a cyclist who has been injured.
Bring appropriate signs and banners or decorate bikes with messaging supportive of cyclists.
Everyone is welcome to join us at Olde Salem Brewing Company downtown after the ride for a social gathering.

Rain Date: In case of inclement weather, the backup date is Saturday, May 24 at 7pm at Market Square.
