The Bird Cage is an "accidental boutique" located in the picturesque town of Salem, Virginia. Gwenda Kellett, owner and operator, had already been successfully established in the Roanoke Valley since 2001 with Plantagenet Rose Interiors and Gift Boutique. Always carrying a small selection of jewelry, purses and scarves, Gwenda slowly began incorporating various items of clothing to the delight of customers.
